SUMMARY:



Ensures food quality throughout each station is upholding the daily standard. A Cook 2 should be able to familiarize themselves with each station and fluently execute when needed.



DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepares a wide variety of menu items.
  • Assumes oversight of food production and kitchen personnel in the absence of the Cook 1.
  • Cleans and maintains work areas, utensils, and equipment.
  • Ensures proper staffing for maximum productivity and high standards of quality; controls food costs to achieve maximum profitability.
  • Makes recommendations for maintenance, repair and upkeep of the kitchen, its equipment, and other areas as appropriate.
  • Attends to day-to-day problems and needs concerning equipment and food supplies; detects and ensures disposition of spoiled or unattractive food, defective supplies/equipment, and/or other unusual conditions.
  • Consistently maintains standards of quality, cost, presentation, and flavor of foods.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Knowledge of supplies, equipment, and/or services ordering and inventory control.
  • Ability to monitor and/or maintain quality control standards.
  • Ability to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures.
  • Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.
  • Knowledge of maintenance and care of culinary facilities, equipment, supplies, and materials.
  • Knowledge of food preparation and presentation methods, techniques, and quality standards.
  • Knowledge of organizational structure, workflow, and operating procedures.
  • Ability to lead and train staff and/or students.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • The physical environment in which the work is performed includes indoor HV AC climate control.

  • Physical efforts or distracting elements required of this position:
    REGULAR: Lifting (up to 50 lbs.), standing, prolonged visual attention, other (walking, kneeling, climbing stairs).

    Noise
