Position Overview

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This positions primary function involves daily preparation of food items, maintaining an efficient work environment, operating kitchen equipment, managing inventory, supervising personnel, a significant knowledge of food and beverage, and a commitment to delivering a high level of service.

Cook I will be responsible for following scope of work, including, but not limited to:

  • Set-up and break down work station.

  • Prepare special meals or substitute items.

  • Regulate temperature of ovens, broilers, grills, and roasters.

  • Pull food from freezer storage to thaw in the refrigerator.

  • Ensure proper portion, arrangement, and food garnish.

  • Maintain food logs.

  • Monitor the quality and quantity of food that is prepared.

  • Coordinate and communicate when assistance is needed during busy periods.

  • Inform Chef of excess food inventory in order to utilize as daily specials.

  • Inform F&B service staff of 86ed items and available menu specials.

  • Ensure the quality of the food items.

  • Prepare and cook food according to recipes, quality standards, presentation standards, and food preparation checklist.

  • Prepare cold foods.

  • Assist management in hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, counseling, disciplining, and motivating and coaching employees; serve as a role model.

  • Responsible for reporting maintenance needs, accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions to manager

  • Anticipate and address guests' service needs.

Skills

REQUIREMENTS:

Cook Is skills should include, but not be limited to:

  • 2 years full-service restaurant experience.

  • A culinary degree, certificate or attendance at a culinary school is preferred.

  • Ability to complete safety training and certifications.

Additional Skills Needed:

  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with guests, homeowners, and co-workers verbally and in writing.

  • Ability to stand, sit, or walk for an extended period of time.

  • Ability to reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.

  • Ability to move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 25 pounds without assistance.

  • Ability to tolerate exposure to smoke, steam, high temperatures, and humidity.

  • Ability to work in the heat and/or cold, often with extended exposure to the sun.

  • Must be available to work nights, weekends, and, on occasion, a longer than normal workday, including event venues at beach, parks, and pool deck.
